Pontiac Stove Company is a Dothan-based band that plays original music and obscure covers, Americana-style. The guys have played together for many years but officially formed in 2017 and made a full-length all original record in late 2019, just in time for COVID. They play an occasional gig when not tied up with day jobs or tending to family duties. This record was recorded live with no overdubs at Rambo Mill Studios (aka the farm house) in Cottonwood, AL.  Pontiac Stove Co. will be playing at the Mayhaw Music Festival in October 2025.

Music available on vinyl lp, CD, and streaming.

The project was recorded live at Peerless Studios in Williamsburg, KY. Virgil Bowlin engineered the project and also played mandolin on "I Am A Pilgrim."  The album was released on Common Loon Records in February 2024. A highlight track is the Bill Monroe tune “Tombstone Junction”.

Prewitt is a full-time member of IBMA-award winning bluegrass band, The Special Consensus. He has twice been nominated for IBMA Momentum Award for instrumentalist of the year.

The Royal Reds project was conceived the day after a festival in July 2023.  Spring Creek 45 and Chatham Rabbits played a show and collaborated on two songs the following day.  Incidentally, that’s also when the seed was planted for the Mayhaw Music Festival.  A lot happened that weekend.

Two songs were recorded in a traditional “sing into the can” style using a Myrtle vocal mic and one instrument mic.  We recorded two songs and hope to record a couple more to make a 45 rpm record very soon.  Little White Blues (J. Stickler) is a haunting song about hopelessness, inspired by many work visits to the Dozier School for Boys in Marianna, FLA.  Sarah McCombie (lead vocals / banjo), Austin McCombie (Gibson archtop ES150), Michael Prewitt (mandolin), and Steven Salter (harmony vocals) perform this tune.

The second song, Help Me Work, is moving piece written and sung by Salter, with Sarah, Austin, and Michael on strings.

Music available Streaming and YouTube documentary video.

Michael Prewitt’s second full-length album, Something He Can Handle, was released on October 25.  The album (vinyl and CD) is available here on the website and at select record stores. Digital tracks are available everywhere you listen to music.

Prewitt is best known as an excellent bluegrass mandolin player and harmony singer with Special Consensus, but this album will show his versatility, both instrumentally and vocally. Prewitt’s guitar and mandolin playing, and his singing and songwriting combine to form a unique sound that is all his own.

Prewitt toured for three years and made one album with with IBMA award-winning and twice Grammy-nominated bluegrass band Special Consensus and has been nominated twice for IBMA Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year. You can catch Prewitt on the road this summer with Special C and this fall playing solo shows promoting his new album.

After 12 years of touring with The Special Consensus, Dan has put together a collection of original songs. Rust Belt Town (March 2026 release) is a blend of bluegrass and Americana that showcases Dan’s midwestern roots and is an album with the working class at the forefront of his mind. Dan’s buddies, Michael Prewitt (mandolin, harmony vocals), Aaron Bibelhauser (dobro, pedal steel, piano), Jeff Guernsey (fiddle), and Scott T. Smith (harmony vocals on one track), provide backup while Dan sings lead, plays acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and drums.

There’s no question that The Ballad of Charlie Avalon is Stillhouse Junkies’ most ambitious project to date. Band founder and songwriter Fred Kosak started working on the project during the isolated summer of 2020, penning a sprawling narrative about the titular Charlie Avalon that’s loosely based on the real-life experience of Mississippi John Hurt. Charlie became a conduit for Kosak’s own tribulations in the music industry, and the result is a modern-day folk concept album brimming with artistic inspiration.

“This album is really the culmination of what it’s felt like to be a touring musician over most of the the past decade,” says Kosak, “You never really know if you’re making the right choice as a musician or as a band. It can be hard to tell who really has your best interest at heart and who is just trying to get their ten percent out of your pockets. But the only thing you know how to do is keep playing no matter what else happens.”

Narrated by Sam Bush and produced by Joe Newberry, this album is unique and brilliant!
